INDIAN POTATOES LIMITED was promoted in 2003 with a aim to take indian potatoes towards the global leadership by addressing the whole value chain and integrating all stake holders with a win-win situation .in 2003 ,india ranked 4th globally and the exports of potatoes was limited to Nepal and insignificant to countries like Sri Lanka with a per capita consumption of 16 kg and after two decades our position moved to 2nd position globally ,exports moved to 4,94,000 MT and per capita consumption increased to 26 kg and we target to move to 1st position by the end of 2030 and per capita consumption to 50 kg.
In 2003, our associate organization (Horticulture Produce Management Instutute) was given an assignment by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, Govt. of India to develop "Farm to Fork model". Many large corporates are trying to implement but the whole value chain and supply chain is not addressed simultaneously and hence Indian Potatoes Limited promoted a project "Ginkgo Mart" to implement the project in the country with the pilot project in Himachal Pradesh, started on 28th October 2024.
In 2004 Indian Potatoes Limited visualised the significance of ancient grains "Millet Group Cereals" and started promoting the production and carried out lots of research on all the aspects and now announced a large project to address commercial value chain of millets adopting "Farm to Fork" model through various agribusiness models(Millet Cafe & Stores and Food Therapy through India Millet Initiative under International Decade of Millet 2024-2034).
